ATTENTION PARENTS: I was not available on October 30 - Teacher Workday for Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you would like to meet with me regarding your student, please email me at [email protected] to schedule an appointment. I am available as early as 7:30 AM to meet with you.
All Grades for Quarter 1 have been finalized. All assignments from this point forward will be Quarter 2 grades. Please encourage your student to stay up on all assignments. Before you know it, the semester will end.
8th Grade
This week 8th grade will begin learning about resources that they can use to seek employment. I encourage you to share with your student how you found your job. Did you go online and apply, did you go to a job fair or were your referred by a friend or acquaintance?
We will also talk about safe-guarding their personal information when seeking employment online as well as the different types of job seeking websites.
7th Grade
We are working on finishing up the components of a research report. Our last topic is the table of contents. This week they are working on typing a table of contents using dot leaders.
Our next topic we will begin covering is Microsoft Excel. If you use Excel in your job, please talk to your student about its importance.
6th Grade
Wow, wow, wow. I am so impressed with their typing skills. I am already seeing students typing as fast as 29 wpm. This is such an important skill. Please encourage your students to work on completing their typing lessons at home. We have such a limited time in class that any extra practicing they can do at home is appreciated.
As always - if your students are practicing keyboarding at home, it is always helpful to make sure they are practicing these techniques at all times. Students can login to Edutyping.com from home to practice. The login information for edutyping is:
Account ID: charlotte
Username: their student number
Password: their DOB, yyyymmdd
I prefer that they do no move ahead in the lessons so that I can make sure they are using the correct fingers when learning new keys. There are lots of other free typing websites that they can practice on.
Thank you for your support of your wonderful students.
